How it works
Two things about CleanX are worth understanding before you pay: how far back we can actually reach, and how long deletion takes. Both are limits X sets, and neither is something any tool can get around.

The five steps
- Connect your accountYou sign in on X, not here — we never see your password. X asks whether to give CleanX permission to read and change your posts, reposts and likes, and hands us a token if you agree. You can withdraw it at any time from your X settings.
- Pick what to clearPosts, reposts or likes. For posts and reposts you choose whole calendar years; for likes, how many to remove. Filters can narrow it further.
- Read the listWe fetch everything you picked and show it in full. Untick anything you want to keep. This step is free and nothing has been touched yet.
- PayOne crypto payment for the job. Deletion begins automatically once the payment confirms on-chain.
- The work runsItems are handled one at a time in the background, newest first. You can close the tab — it keeps going without you, and the progress page shows where it is up to.
Why we can only reach your last 3,200 posts
X's API will return at most the 3,200 most recent posts on any account. That is a hard cap on their side. It applies to every tool built on the API, including this one, and it cannot be raised by paying X more or by asking politely.
The confusing part is that filtering by date does not get you past it. A date range narrows the results inside that window of 3,200 rather than opening a new one.
A worked example. Say you have posted 9,000 times since 2014, and 4,000 of those were in 2023 and 2024 alone. Your last 3,200 posts probably only reach back to some point in 2023. Select 2016 and the scan returns nothing — not because 2016 was quiet, but because those posts sit outside the window. They are still visible on your profile. We simply cannot see them.
This is why we never bill for an empty year. If a year you selected comes back with nothing, it is dropped from the order before the price is calculated, and we tell you which years were affected.
Reaching further back
Search behaves differently from the timeline, and we use it where we can, so older years sometimes do come back even when the timeline cannot see them. Coverage of very old posts is patchy, so treat it as a bonus rather than a promise — and either way, we only bill for years that actually returned something.
If a year you care about comes back empty, the remaining route is your X archive, which lists every post you have ever made. Uploading it is not supported in CleanX yet.
Why the work takes hours
X allows 50 actions per 15 minutes per account — about 200 an hour — whether that is deleting a post, undoing a repost or removing a like. It is the single thing that decides how long your job takes. Going faster is not a matter of better engineering; requests past the limit are simply refused.
Likes have a second limit: 1,000 a day. A job of 3,000 likes therefore runs for about three days, which is why we cap likes jobs there. It pauses and picks up by itself each day.
| Posts | Roughly how long |
|---|---|
| 100 | 30 minutes |
| 500 | 2 hours 30 minutes |
| 1,000 | 5 hours |
| 2,000 | 10 hours |
| 3,200 | 16 hours |
You do not have to wait around for it. The job runs on our servers, not in your browser, so you can close the tab, sleep, and check the progress page in the morning. If our servers restart mid-job, it picks up exactly where it left off.
Posts that were already gone
Occasionally a post in your list turns out to be gone already — deleted by you earlier, or removed by X. Those show as already gone rather than as failures. They are not errors and there is nothing to fix.
What you pay for
Every year has a flat price that already includes a number of posts. You only pay extra for posts beyond that, at 2¢ each:
| Flat price | Includes | |
|---|---|---|
| Your busiest year | $9.99 | 200 posts |
| Each other year | $4.99 | 100 posts |
Some examples:
| You clear | Price |
|---|---|
| One year of 150 posts | $9.99 |
| Three years of 400 posts each | $35.97 |
| One year of 3,000 posts | $65.99 |
| A year of 3,000 and a year of 2,000 | $108.98 |
Likes are priced separately, by how many you remove rather than by year. Your busiest year always takes the $9.99 base, because that is the arrangement that costs you least. The price rises gradually with the number of posts, so there is no point where one more post suddenly costs dollars more, and clearing years together is always cheaper than clearing them one order at a time.
You see the price of every year before you pay, once we have counted your posts. Years with nothing in them are never billed, and unticking posts to keep them lowers the price of any year that is over its included amount.
Refunds
We track every item individually, so we know exactly what was done and what was not. If a job ends with posts left behind — because access was withdrawn partway through, or X refused them — you are owed back the same share of the price as the share of posts we failed to remove, and the progress page shows the amount.
What we cannot do is undo a deletion. Once a post is gone it is gone, from us and from X. A repost or a like you can always add again yourself, but a deleted post is final — which is why we show you the full list and ask you to type out a confirmation before anything happens.
What we store, and how to cut us off
- Your access token, encrypted, so the job can keep running after you close the tab. Without it, a six-hour deletion would stop the moment you left.
- The list of items in your order, so the progress page can show you what happened to each one.
- No password. Sign-in happens on X and we never receive it.
To revoke access, go to Settings, then Security and account access, then Apps and sessions, and remove CleanX. That takes effect immediately, including in the middle of a running job.
Common questions
Can I delete all my old tweets at once?
You can delete whole years at a time. X only lets any tool reach your most recent 3,200 posts, so anything older than that cannot be read through its API, whichever tool you use.
How long does it take to bulk delete tweets?
About 200 an hour. X allows 50 deletions every 15 minutes per account, so 1,000 posts take roughly five hours and 3,200 take about sixteen. It runs in the background, so you can close the tab.
Can deleted posts be recovered?
No. Once a post is deleted it is gone, from us and from X. Undoing a repost or removing a like can be done again by hand, but a deleted post is final.
How much does it cost?
$9.99 for your busiest year, including its first 200 posts, and $4.99 for each other year, including 100. Posts beyond those allowances are 2 cents each. Likes are priced by how many you remove.
Do you need my password?
No. You sign in on X itself and approve access there, so we never see your password. You can withdraw that access at any time from your X settings.
